While we gazed in wonder at the solar eclipse (with glasses, of course), Google confirmed the name of the next version of Android.

On Monday, Google revealed Android O, the latest version of its mobile operating system, would be named Oreo, after the popular cookie.

The name should not come as a surprise, since Google is known for naming versions of Android after desserts, including Gingerbread, Jelly Bean, and Nougat, last year's update.

Google introduced O in May during its I/O developers conference. Among its key features: a picture-in-picture option, improved copy and paste, and an "opt-in" autofill.

Google said Oreo should be available to third-party hardware makers including Samsung, Sony and LG by the end of the year.

구글은 오레오는 올해말까지 삼성, 소니, 엘지 등을 포함한 하드웨어 생산자 써드파티가 이용할 수 있어야 한다고 전했다.
